The seat of San Joaquin County, Stockton has earned the title “All-America City” by the National Civic League for the work the community of 250,000 has done to create jobs, reduce crime, improve the Delta’s environment and revitalize its historic downtown.

The Port of Stockton is an inland seaport that serves cargo vessels.

Five major rivers feed the nearby California Delta including the Sacramento River and the San Joaquin River. Boating, fishing and camping are major recreation activities of the area. There are more than 100 marinas and waterside resorts as well as quaint waterside restaurants for dining and grocery stores for picking up provisions before heading out on the water.

At the heart of downtown Stockton is the Weber Point Events Center, a unique open-air events and recreation facility. The Center plays host for many city events and features a children’s play area, an interactive water display, the Point Amphitheater and a plaza.

Adults and children enjoy access to several museums such as the Clever Planetarium and Earth Science Center and the Children's Museum of Stockton. Other cultural events include the Stockton Symphony, San Joaquin County Ballet and Stockton Civic Theater.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate that Stockton is home to the San Francisco 49er's Summer Training Camp. Stockton's Farmer's Market is a popular community-gathering place to shop for all the fresh produce the Great Central Valley has to offer.
